What We Do
We help mothers with placing a baby for adoption. And we help families and individuals adopt children. We give every child we help place for adoption the opportunity to experience a family’s unconditional love and commitment, support, and encouragement of an engaged community. We also provide Home Studies and Post Adoption Supervision for our adoptions and other adoption organizations.
What We Believe
Holy Cross Child Placement has worked with hundreds of mothers, fathers, children, and adoptive parents for over 35 years. We are committed to creating families through adoption by preparing, nurturing, supporting, and advocating for all involved in the process. Keeping true to our faith with the belief that all shall be loved, we help and support individuals and families of any color, gender, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
How We Started
We are a non-profit organization established by the Rev’d Donald Heacock, Margaret Heacock, and the Rev’d Kenneth Paul in 1984. It was created as a ministry of Holy Cross Episcopal Church to help people in our community adopt. Due to the ministry’s success, Holy Cross Child Placement (HCCP) became a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1989. Additionally, with continued success, HCCP began helping people adopt nationwide. Although an independent organization, HCCP has worked and still works closely with Holy Cross. And in 2020, we moved our offices back to the Church’s campus.
What you, the birth mother, may anticipate
HCCP is dedicated to creating a personalized adoption plan based on what is important to you. Our advisors are expert problem solvers and advocates who are on hand to help you in any way. In addition, we are incredibly proud of the fantastic adoptive families we have for you to consider and provide financial assistance with living expenses, relocating, housing, furniture, medical, legal, and counseling needs.
You will always be treated with kindness and acceptance in an environment without judgment. All you need to do is call (318) 415-6644.
What you, the adoptive parent(s), may anticipate
Private domestic adoptions are a little different from what you may expect, beginning with the birth parents choosing to place their child for adoption, usually out of love for the child. Furthermore, a birth mother can create her adoption plan and select the family she wishes to adopt her baby. In most cases, the adoptive parents are present for the birth of their child. Birth parents then place the baby directly with the adoptive family at the hospital and sign adoption consents that become final within days of the placement. Then, of course, there are the financial considerations of adoption. Adoptions can be costly. Holy Cross Child Placement adoptions are often less expensive than other organizations due to being a non-profit with minimal expenses.
